In Serbia, KOLO is the most common and popular form of folk dance. In the field of performing art, Serbian folk dance KOLO is the most prestigious cultural asset in its traditional culture. KOLO is a moving-coil dance, with the adjacent dancers holding canes and dancing together. Meanwhile, it is a religious dance with a mystical atmosphere, regarded as a symbol of protecting the social group from any evil. Since its establishment in 1948, SFE KOLO has elevated and enriched Serbian folk dance aw well as the meaning of its music and songs with great enthusiasm, and is developing towards true art. After recreation and adaptation, the repertoire of the upcoming performance preserves the ethnic style and flavor; on this basis, it accommodates the entire repertoire to the requirements of performing art, not only enriching the heritage of the original dance, but also reflecting the diversity of art.
